Space Exploration: Journeys of Discovery takes students on a tour of our solar
system and explains many of the discoveries humans have made
exploring our solar system and beyond. Students are reminded that the
Sun lies at the center of our solar system. They learn that all other objects
in our solar system are held in orbit by the gravitational force of the Sun.
Students also learn that Earth is the only planet in our solar system that is
known to support life. The book recounts how humans have developed
technologies that have helped them explore our solar system and
describes milestones in the history of space exploration. At the end of
each two-page spread, a brief statement called The Bottom Line reinforces
students’ understanding by summing up the key ideas about our solar
system and space exploration covered in those pages.
